Bake Neko Anzu-chan The MOVIE 2024

In the midst of a thunderstorm, the monk of a temple finds a kitten crying inside a cardboard box. The kitten is named “Anzu” and is raised with care. However, strangely enough, even after 10 or 20 years, Anzu doesn’t age or die.

Around 30 years later, Anzu mysteriously starts speaking human language and lives like a human, becoming a “bakeneko” (shape-shifting cat). Anzu, now 37 years old, travels on a moped and works part-time doing massages. One day, the long-lost son of the monk, who had disappeared after a family quarrel, returns with his 11-year-old daughter, Karin. However, another quarrel with the monk ensues, and he leaves Karin behind before disappearing again.

Karin always appears to be an “ideal child” in front of adults, but when Anzu reluctantly takes care of her, there’s a sense that things won’t be straightforward.
