Anyone Can Dance Easily
The biggest charm of Gujo Odori is that anyone can participate. There is no dress code or special preparation needed. The dance steps are very simple — you naturally learn to dance as you move your hands and feet. Join the large circle and dance to the accompaniment of shamisen, drums, flute, and singing, and you’ll surely be captivated by the fun of Gujo Odori.
Dance All Night for 4 Consecutive Nights
Gujo Odori is a long-running dance festival lasting over 30 nights, but the highlight is the “All-Night Dance” held over 4 nights from August 13 to 16. During this period, dancing continues non-stop from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning. At dawn, the dance floor is wrapped in a sacred atmosphere, marking a special moment.
