Zao Autumn leaves When 2024
There are numerous scenic spots where you can enjoy nature in the area. Mount Kumanodake (1841m), Jizoyama, and other mountains over 1700m in height form a range. Within the Zao Quasi-National Park and along the Zao Echo Line and Highline, there are many natural attractions, including the Goshikinuma ponds. The mountainsides are densely covered with deciduous trees such as maple, oak, and beech, offering beautiful autumn foliage even when driving. At the foot of the mountains, you can find hot springs like Zao Onsen in Yamagata City and Kaminoyama Onsen in Kaminoyama City. The autumn foliage typically begins in late September from the summit area and colors the hot spring towns from mid to late October.
