Akiko Higashimura: Kakukaku Shikajika Exhibition – Manga and Painting: The Eternal Regret – 2025

This exhibition showcases original drawings from Kakukaku Shikajika, the timeless autobiographical manga by Akiko Higashimura, winner of the 2015 Manga Taisho (Grand Prize).

Over 60 pieces including color illustrations and black-and-white manuscripts will be on display across two periods. One carefully selected episode from the total 34 chapters of Kakukaku Shikajika will be exhibited in full in each half of the show. Oil paintings from her student days will also be featured.

Timed with the release of the live-action film Kakukaku Shikajika on May 16, 2025, the exhibition will also display props used in the movie and rare behind-the-scenes photos taken by Higashimura herself during filming.
