Mikuni Fireworks Festival 2025
The Mikuni Fireworks Festival, also known as the “Mikuni Summer Festival Fireworks,” is a historic event held every early August at Mikuni Sunset Beach in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture.
Overview
Dating back to before World War II, this prestigious fireworks show is held annually on August 11. Around 7,000 fireworks light up the sky over Mikuni Sunset Beach, including massive two-shaku shells, artistic set fireworks, and spectacular starmine displays.
The fireworks are launched by Horiuchi Fireworks of Ina, Nagano, who also participated in the Nagano Olympics. A team of about 30 pyrotechnicians launches fireworks from the Mikuni Port pier and floating platforms.
