Sumiyoshi Festival 2025
The Sumiyoshi Festival is a summer festival held annually from July 30 to August 1 at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Sumiyoshi Ward, Osaka. Centered around the grand annual ritual, the festival also features various traditional ceremonies such as the Nagoshi-harai (summer purification), Mikoshi Togyo (portable shrine procession), and Arahae-oharai (large-scale purification ritual).
It is regarded as one of Osaka’s three major summer festivals, alongside the Ikutama Summer Festival of Ikukunitama Shrine and the Tenjin Festival of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine.
