Nara Tokae Festival 2025
The Nara Tokae Festival is a candle-lit event held annually for ten days in early August across Nara Park in Nara City since 1999.
“Tokae” refers to the flower-shaped wax formed at the tip of a candlewick, considered a good omen in Buddhism. During the event, thousands of candles illuminate the park surrounded by World Heritage sites, creating a mystical and enchanting atmosphere. It has become a beloved summer tradition in Nara.
