Niihama Taiko Festival 2025
The Niihama Taiko Festival is an autumn festival held in Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture. It is known as one of the three major festivals in Shikoku along with Tokushima’s Awa Odori and Kochi’s Yosakoi Festival, and also counted among Japan’s three great “fighting festivals.” The origins of the festival trace back to the Heian period.
The festival is held for three days from October 16 to 18 (starting from October 15 in some areas), featuring a parade of 54 massive taiko floats (taikodai) decorated with gold thread embroidery throughout the city.
