The Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival 2026
The Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival, also known as the Biwako Grand Fireworks Festival, is one of Japan’s most celebrated summer events, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators each year. The 2026 festival will take place on Friday, August 7, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., over the waters near Otsu Port in Shiga Prefecture.
Approximately 10,000 fireworks will be launched, including spectacular starmine displays and synchronized water fireworks beautifully reflected on the surface of Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest freshwater lake. Surrounded by mountains, the natural setting of Lake Biwa amplifies both the visual and acoustic impact of the fireworks, offering spectators a truly immersive experience. It promises to be an unforgettable night filled with excitement, color, and a strong sense of community spirit.
