Fukuroi enshu Fire works 2024
The Fukuroi Enshu Fireworks, known as “Fukuroi Enshu no Hanabi,” is a fireworks festival held in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The main venue for the event is the Haranodani River Park within the city, and it takes place annually in the mid-August.
Overview: Originally held in the riverbed area of the “Shizuhashi” river since the Showa 20s (1940s), the fireworks festival was relocated to the Haranodani River Park in 1995. The number of fireworks launched is approximately 30,000, making it the largest in Shizuoka Prefecture and one of the largest in the country. In 2009, due to the impact of the economic downturn, with only about 40% of the usual sponsorships, the decision was made to cancel the event for that year due to financial difficulties.
Until 2008, around 30,000 fireworks were launched, but after the hiatus in 2009, the number was reduced to just over 20,000 in 2010. From 2011 onwards, the number has been maintained at around 25,000.
In 2020, the scheduled date was moved up from mid-August to July 4th. However, due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizing committee decided to cancel the event on April 23rd of the same year. The situation persisted in 2021, leading to another cancellation. In 2022, the event was also canceled due to the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19.
The Fukuroi Enshu Fireworks are set to be held on July 29, 2023, marking a return after a four-year hiatus.
