Matsue Water Light Road (Matsue Suitouro) 2024
“SUITOURO” is a term used in the context of the Matsue Suitouro event, which is an illumination event organized by the Matsue Light-Up Caravan within the Matsue Tourism Association. The event illuminates the area around Matsue Castle, creating a magical landscape with the unique interplay of light and shadow characteristic of the castle town of Matsue.
The highlight of the main event day of Suitouro is the special “Horikawa Night Cruise,” a boat tour along the castle moat that operates only during this time of the year. From the boat, visitors can enjoy the picturesque scenery of the historic Shimono Nawa-te area, where the waterside lanterns (mizutoro and kouroutou) gently sway. The entire venue is adorned with numerous lanterns, contributing to the enchanting atmosphere of the event.
