Uesugi Shrine Sakura When 2024
Uesugi Shrine (Matsugamisaki Park) is adorned with approximately 200 cherry blossom trees along its moat. The reflection of cherry blossoms on the water’s surface creates a beautiful scene, making it a popular spot for photography. Particularly, the view of cherry blossoms with the red bridge (Hishimonbashi) over the moat adds a charming touch to the landscape.
The expected full bloom for the cherry blossoms in 2023 is around April 15th to 16th. The approximately 200 cherry trees around the moat of the former Yonezawa Castle, including many old cherry trees, offer a unique and delightful experience.
The Yonezawa Uesugi Festival is scheduled to take place from April 29th to May 3rd. The festival begins with the main festival of Matsugamisaki Shrine, featuring events such as the Uesugi Procession and a reenactment of the Battle of Kawanakajima.
