The Ishidori Festival 2026
The Ishidori Festival is a shrine festival of Kuwana Sosha (Kasuga Shrine) held in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, Japan. It is designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property and is inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list as part of the “Yama, Hoko, and Yatai Float Festivals.” It is also sometimes written as Ishitori Festival. Around 40 festival floats parade through the streets starting at midnight, simultaneously beating gongs and drums from Kasuga Shrine, earning it the nicknames “the noisiest festival in Japan” and “the world’s strangest festival.”
