Nagasaki Kunchi 2026

Nagasaki Kunchi is a traditional festival held at Suwa Shrine in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture. The festival takes place over three days from October 7 to October 9. It has been designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan (designated in 1979 under the official name “Dedication Dances of Nagasaki Kunchi”). Locally, the festival is affectionately known as “Okunchi” and is deeply cherished by the community.
