03/16 (Tokyo) HARU COMIC CITY 34 2025
Comic City is a doujinshi sales event organized by Akaboo Communication (K Corporation). It used to be co-hosted by multiple doujinshi printing companies. The event is held approximately 20 times a year in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, and it is the largest event of its kind in Osaka and Fukuoka. In Tokyo and Osaka, most of the participating circles present works aimed at female audiences for the reasons mentioned below.
K Corporation, the organizer, has a 30-year history as a corporate doujinshi event organizer. The theme of “Creating books. Selling books. Buying books.” is at the core of the event’s concept, which aims to regularly maintain and supply manga doujinshi with limited distribution opportunities and provide a space for doujin creators to interact.
In the past, events were held in various locations. In recent years, medium to large-scale events have primarily been held in the three cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, maintaining a distinct separation from other all-genre events such as Comic Live organized by Studio YOU.
Recently, Akaboo Communication has organized concept-based-only events such as the “ZR Series (National Convention)” and “Anthropomorphization Kingdom.”
Since the summer of 2016, they have planned concurrent mini-events within “Comic City,” hosting over 30 different title-based mini-events on the same day. Additionally, they actively hold “petit-only” events, which are sub-events within “Comic City.”
Depending on the event, the number of booths available can range from 13,000 to 20,000, making it a large-scale event that exceeds the number of booths in a day at Comic Market.
Comic City prohibits the admission of preschool children, regardless of whether they are circle participants or general attendees. It also prohibits attendees from staying overnight at the venue and coming before 7 a.m., as outlined in the rules and guidelines provided on the official website.
