Asakusa Samba Carnival 2025
The Asakusa Samba Carnival Parade Contest, which concludes the summer in Asakusa, has grown since its start in 1981 with the support of the lively Asakusa community. In recent years, it attracts about 500,000 visitors annually, making it a major event.
Inspired by the Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Brazil, participating teams deliver performances worthy of the largest carnival in the Northern Hemisphere. Feel the heat of the powerful bateria drummers, the dynamic dancers, the carnival songs, and the elaborately decorated floats (“Alegoria”) as samba rhythms echo through Asakusa.
