Vibrant Autumn Leaves and Scenic Stroll along the Approach

Daiozan Sainoji Temple, affiliated with the Soto school of Zen Buddhism, is a temple with over 4,000 branches nationwide. Boasting a history of over 600 years, the temple also carries legends of Tengu. As the early winter chill sets in, the vibrant autumn foliage on Mount Osutaka reaches its peak. The stone-paved approach from the Kaizando Hall to the Bell Tower and the Enkaimon Gate is a highlight of autumn foliage within the temple grounds. The intensely red foliage in front of the Rurimon Gate, when looked upon, reveals each leaf distinctly illuminated by sunlight, creating a splendid harmony with the surrounding cedar forest.

Highlights:

• The temple grounds feature power spots such as Myokaku Ho-den, Geshun-ni-do, Zazen-ishi, and Goshinden. Visiting these spots along with enjoying the autumn foliage adds to the experience.
• A light-up event is scheduled from November 19th (Sunday) to November 27th (Monday), 2023.
