The precincts of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine boast several beautiful autumn foliage spots, including Nakashima Shrine, Tenkai Inari Shrine, Kamado Shrine, and Shioujiyama. The optimal viewing period for the autumn colors at these spots typically ranges from mid to late November.
In line with the autumn theme, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine distributes three-colored omikuji (fortune-telling paper strips) in red, orange, and yellow, reminiscent of the fall foliage. Additionally, there may be curtains resembling autumn leaves adorning the shrine grounds.
Tenkai Inari Shrine, located within the precincts of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, enshrines the deity of sweets, Tajimamori no Mikoto. To reach this spot, you can take a scenic 15-minute walk from Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station, or climb the stone steps located behind the main hall of Tenmangu Shrine.
