Domatsuri 2024

The “Nippondomanaka Festival” (にっぽんど真ん中祭り) is a dance event held in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, typically at the end of August. The festival spans three days, starting from the end of August (Friday to Sunday). The main venue is Nagoya’s Hisaya Odori Park, and the event is also spread across 19 other locations. The festival, commonly known as “Domatsuri,” was first held in 1999 and has been an annual event since then.

Participants from both within and outside Aichi Prefecture join the festival, and there are no restrictions on the genre of dance. However, one unique condition is that participants must incorporate phrases from local folk songs to showcase and promote their local regions. The festival’s founder is Takakazu Mizuno, who currently serves as the Executive Director of the Nippondomanaka Festival.
