Fukiware Falls Autumn leaves When 2024

The Nijimiya River has carved out the breathtaking Fukiware Falls through erosion, creating a spectacle that is often referred to as the “Niagara of the East.” With a height of 7 meters and a width of 30 meters, the water cascades dramatically, resembling a grand display similar to Niagara Falls in the Eastern world. The surrounding well-maintained walking paths and observation platforms provide a magnificent view of the picturesque beauty of the gorge and the cascading water.

The area is adorned with various attractions, including the dramatic scenery of Tobi-no-Taki Falls, the rock formations known as Shishiiwa, and the peculiar beauty of Hannyaiwa Rock. Additionally, there are historical sites like the Ukihashi Kannon Temple, the Ukihashi Bridge, and observation platforms offering unique perspectives of the gorge. The fall foliage during autumn is particularly impressive, with the peak viewing time typically occurring from late October to early November.

Highlights: On clear days around noon, a rare occurrence of a rainbow can be witnessed. The stunning contrast of the rainbow, autumn foliage, blue sky, and the clear stream creates a breathtaking natural spectacle.
