Gozan no Okuribi 2025
Gozan no Okuribi (also known as Kyoto Gozan no Okuribi) is a traditional bonfire event held annually on August 16th on Mt. Nyoi (also called Mt. Daimonji) and other mountains in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. Due to its religious and historical background, it is sometimes referred to as the “Daimonji Bonfire.”

It is one of Kyoto’s four major traditional festivals, alongside the Aoi Matsuri, Gion Matsuri, and Jidai Matsuri.
