Gujo Hachiman Castle Autumn leaves when 2024

The vibrant autumn leaves at Gujo Hachiman Castle in the upper area of Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, are known for their castle surrounded by fiery foliage. The peak viewing period is typically from early to mid-November. To coincide with the peak, the period from November 3 (National Holiday) to November 23 (National Holiday) in 2023 is celebrated as the “Gujo Hachiman Castle Town Autumn Leaves Festival.” Various events take place during this period, including the sale of discounted combination tickets with the Jionzen-ji Temple, a famous autumn foliage spot in the castle town, and the “Autumn Leaves Illumination” held from November 10 (Friday) to November 19 (Sunday) in 2023.

Highlights of the festival include the “Gujo Hachiman Castle Sky Maple Garden Illumination” (November 10 (Friday) to November 19 (Sunday), from sunset around 17:00 to 20:00, with the last admission accepted until 19:45). This event allows visitors to enjoy the enchanting autumn leaves that glow in the night, creating a magical atmosphere different from the daytime scenery.
