Hokkaido Shrine Sakura When 2024
The Hokkaido Shrine in Sapporo is home to approximately 1,400 cherry blossom trees, making it known as one of the first cherry blossom spots in Hokkaido. Within the precincts, you can find various cherry blossom varieties such as Ezoyamazakura, Somei Yoshino, Yaezakura, Shidarezakura, and Chishimazakura. Additionally, there are about 250 plum trees, and during the blooming season, stalls are set up.
Cherry blossoms in Hokkaido can be enjoyed from late April to mid-May. The region boasts unique varieties not found in Honshu, including Ezoyamazakura with large, pale pink flowers and Chishimazakura, which gradually changes color from white to light pink as the flowers open.
Hokkaido Shrine is renowned in Sapporo as a popular spot to appreciate the simultaneous beauty of plum and cherry blossoms.
