Jantokoi Uozu Matsuri 2024
The Uozu Tourism Festival, initially known as the Uozu Kanko Matsuri, had its inaugural event in 1970 (Showa 45) and adopted its current name in 1987 (Showa 62). The festival was previously held for three days starting from August 7th but underwent a schedule change in 2007 (Heisei 19) to its present format. The current schedule consists of the following events:
- Day 1: Tatemomon Festival
- Day 2: Tatemomon Festival and Maritime Fireworks Display
- Day 3: Brass Band Parade, Serikomi Choroku Flow, and more
The phrase “jantokoi” used during the festival is the chant for “Serikomi Choroku,” conveying the invitation for people to come and join the festivities. Both the Tatemomon Festival and Serikomi Choroku were designated as part of “Toyama’s Cultural Heritage Top 100 (Festival Division)” in 2006 (Heisei 18).
