Kawakita Festival 2024 (Fire works)
北國大花火川北大会(Hokkoku Ohanabi Kawakita Taikai) is an annual fireworks festival held in Kawakita Town, Nomi District, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, typically on the first Saturday of August.
Overview:
The roots of the Hokkoku Ohanabi Kawakita Taikai can be traced back to the “Hokkoku Hanabi Kawakita Taikai” held as a co-sponsored event during the 5th Kawakita Matsuri on July 29, 1990. The first edition took place in 1986. Initially, in 1990, 400 fireworks were launched during the festival.
Over the years, the number of fireworks increased, and in 1994, the festival’s date was changed to the first Saturday of August, aligning with the shift in the Kawakita Matsuri’s schedule, which had previously been held on the fourth Saturday of July. Since 1999, the event has been officially known as the Hokkoku Ohanabi Kawakita Taikai. The festival has continued to attract visitors with its impressive fireworks displays, becoming a significant summer event in the region.
