The enchanting autumn foliage of Kirishima Jingu in Kagoshima Prefecture:

Kirishima Jingu is a venerable shrine founded in the 6th century, located in Kagoshima Prefecture. Characterized by its striking vermilion-colored main hall nestled at the end of a lush approach, the shrine venerates the protagonist of the mythological tale of the descent of the heavenly grandchild, Ninigi-no-Mikoto. The shrine has a rich history marked by repeated destruction and reconstruction due to eruptions from the Kirishima mountain range, with the current main hall designated as a national treasure. Renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn foliage, the latter creates a fantastical landscape along the approach during the fall season.

Attractions: Particularly captivating are the vividly colored autumn leaves along the roadside leading to the first torii gate and the maple trees lining the approach beyond the second torii gate. Additionally, about a 15-minute drive away, there is a hot spring market offering foot baths, gourmet delights, and souvenirs, providing an opportunity to enjoy sightseeing in conjunction with the mesmerizing autumn scenery.
