Kiyomizu dera Autumn leaves When 2024
Kiyomizu-dera, located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, is typically at its peak for autumn foliage from late November to early December each year. The temple grounds are adorned with around 1,000 Japanese maple trees (Yamamomiji), displaying vibrant hues of red, yellow, and orange. The autumn foliage gracefully envelops the national treasure main hall, including the iconic vermilion-painted three-story pagoda and the Kiyomizu Stage.
The illuminated night visits during the autumn season provide a unique opportunity to witness a different aspect of Kiyomizu-dera. This nighttime experience offers a distinct ambiance compared to the daytime, allowing visitors to appreciate the temple’s beauty in a new light.
