Lake Biwa firework festival 2024
The Biwako Hanabi Taikai is an annual fireworks festival held around August 8th in the Otsu Port area of Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. After a four-year hiatus, the festival returned in 2023 and took place on August 8th (Tuesday) from 19:30 to 20:30.
Featuring approximately 10,000 fireworks, the event can be viewed from paid seating areas near Otsu Port and the Biwako Boat Racecourse. Access to the venue is convenient, with a 5-minute walk from the Keihan Electric Railway Biwako-Hamaotsu Station and a 15-minute walk from JR Otsu Station.
This festival is highly popular in the Kinki region, attracting spectators not only from nearby cities such as Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto but also from more distant areas.
