Meiji no Mori Mino Quasi National Park Autumn leaves When 2024
Enjoying Waterfalls, Autumn Leaves, and Historic Temples in the National Park
In the Meiji no Mori Minoh National Park, designated as one of the “Forests for Forest Bathing,” you can experience the beauty of autumn leaves at locations such as the Minoh Waterfall (the only “Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls” in Osaka), Shoshazan Katsuo-ji Temple, Takiyasan Taki-anji Temple, and Nishie-ji Temple. Various maple trees, including Irohamomiji, Yamamomiji, and Oomomiji, offer a vibrant display. The peak viewing period is from mid-November to early December, with the foliage around the Minoh Waterfall slightly delayed.
- Minoh Waterfall (Minoh-no-Taki): Osaka’s only entry in “Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls.”
- Katsuo-ji Temple: Known for its blessings of victory and luck. The grounds are adorned with numerous red daruma dolls (good luck charms).
- Taki-anji Temple: Considered the birthplace of the lottery in Japan, with blessings for entertainment and financial fortune. The main hall’s Benzaiten is said to be the oldest in Japan.
- Nishie-ji Temple: Known for blessings related to marital harmony and matchmaking. The “Keso Mon” charm for romantic success is particularly famous. The temple also offers activities like sutra copying and meditation.
For a limited time, there’s a special bus tour that allows you to visit both the autumn foliage spots in Minoh Park and the luck-bringing Katsuo-ji Temple. Additionally, the Meiji no Mori Minoh National Park Autumn Foliage Festival (“Matsuri”) takes place from November 9 (Sat.) to December 1 (Sun.), 2024.
