Naruko Kyo Gorge Autumn leaves When 2024

Enjoying the autumn foliage in the V-shaped gorge from the top of the sheer cliffs.

About a 10-minute drive from JR Naruko Onsen Station, parallel to National Route 47, is a V-shaped gorge created by the erosion of the Ohtani River. This gorge features approximately 100-meter-high sheer cliffs extending for about 2.5 km. The combination of unique rock formations and the green of pine trees creates a breathtaking autumn foliage spectacle, considered one of the top-tier destinations. The peak of autumn foliage is typically from late October to early November. From October 14th (Saturday) to November 5th (Sunday) in 2023, a special bus service called the “Momiji (Autumn Leaves) Bus” will operate between JR Naruko Onsen Station and Nakayamadaira Onsen Station.

Points of Interest: You can fully enjoy nature by walking along the approximately 350-meter Nakayamadaira-guchi Naruko-kyo Promenade or the 2.2 km Ōfukazawa Promenade.
