Nihonmatsu Lantern Festival 2025
The Nihonmatsu Lantern Festival is the annual grand festival of Nihonmatsu Shrine in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. It is counted as one of Japan’s three major lantern festivals. The festival’s traditional music (hayashi) has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset by Fukushima Prefecture. In 2011, the festival itself was also designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset.
