The Majestic 400-Year-Old Maple of Raiyama
Situated on the slopes of Raiyama, this venerable temple is home to a historic and renowned natural monument—the approximately 400-year-old maple tree, designated as a natural monument by Fukuoka Prefecture. The temple is well-known for its spectacular autumn foliage, drawing visitors seeking the beauty of the changing leaves.
In addition to the ancient maple, Raiyama boasts a meticulously crafted heart-shaped garden from the Muromachi period (14th-16th century) featuring over 200 Japanese maple trees. The garden transforms into a mesmerizing display of vibrant colors during the autumn season.
