The vibrant autumn leaves that color the daimyo garden Constructed over more than 100 years during the Edo period by successive lords of the Takamatsu Domain, this garden has been designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and is highly praised as one of Japan’s representative daimyo gardens, garnering recognition both domestically and internationally. The autumn foliage season is also spectacular, with the contrast between the reflected autumn leaves on the lake and the garden being a must-see. Typically, late November to early December is the best time to view the autumn foliage.
