Sapporo Snow Festival 2026
The Sapporo Snow Festival began in 1950 when local junior and senior high school students exhibited six snow sculptures in Odori Park. Today, it is a major winter event attracting over 2 million visitors from Japan and abroad.
At the Odori site, snow and ice sculptures of various sizes line about one kilometer from 1-Chome to 11-Chome. Lighting is illuminated from sunset until 10 PM. The international snow sculpture contest at 11-Chome features teams from around the world, with live viewing of the creation process during the event.
The Tsudome site offers giant slides and indoor/outdoor snow activities, while the Susukino site hosts ice carving contests and illuminated ice sculptures. Each venue offers a unique experience for visitors to enjoy the winter festival fully.
