Yatsushiro National Fireworks Competition Festival 2024
The “Yatsushiro National Fireworks Competition” is a fireworks competition held in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is the only national fireworks competition in western Japan, where approximately 30 fireworks craftsmen from across the country compete in their skills.
The 36th Yatsushiro National Fireworks Competition is scheduled to take place on October 19, 2024 (Saturday). The event will run from 18:00 to 20:15, featuring the launch of around 14,000 fireworks. The venue is the Yatsushiro City Kuma River Riverside Green Area (upstream from the Shin-Hagihara Bridge).
This competition is organized to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the construction of Yatsushiro Castle. In addition to the competitive fireworks, there will be entertainment fireworks such as music fireworks, as well as fireworks seminars and local product exhibitions.
In the event of inclement weather or the risk of launch site loss due to a typhoon, the event will be postponed to November 9, 2024 (Saturday).
