Yonago Gaina Festival 2024
“Yonago Gaina Matsuri” is a two-day festival held annually in August in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture. In 2023, it will take place on August 19 (Saturday) and 20 (Sunday).
The festival is held around Yonago Station and Minatoyama Park, offering a variety of attractions such as fireworks, performances, a procession of giant lanterns, and taiko drumming. The climax of the event features fireworks launched over Lake Naka.
Unlike traditional festivals rooted in ancient local customs and rituals, Yonago Gaiya Matsuri is a handmade, participatory carnival. Historically, its form has evolved, incorporating new elements each year to keep the festivities fresh and engaging.
