Yoshino Mountain, spanning approximately 8 kilometers from the northern edge to the southern end of the Omine mountain range in Nara Prefecture, is renowned for its cherry blossoms in spring. However, it transforms into a stunning autumn foliage destination in the fall. The leaves of the Sakura Momiji (cherry tree maple) turn vibrant colors earlier than those of regular maples. Due to the difference in altitude, you can observe the gradual change in foliage from the mountaintop to the foothills.
Highlights:
The Kamisenbon area, while featuring steep slopes, offers excellent panoramic views. Notable spots include the Hanayagura Observation Deck (at an elevation of 600 meters) with a breathtaking view of Yoshino Mountain, as well as attractions like the Chikurin-in Temple and Sakuramotobo. The vicinity is dotted with numerous shrines, temples, souvenir shops, and more. Additionally, during the period from October 27 (Friday) to November 30 (Thursday) in 2024, there will be evening illuminations from 16:30 to 22:00 (please check the official website for details).
