Morioka Sansa Odori 2024
The Morioka Sansa Odori (盛岡さんさ踊り) is a festival held annually in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, spanning from August 1st to 4th. It is one of the earliest summer festivals in the Tohoku region, taking place in early August. While it was originally a three-day event, the festival has extended to four days in recent years due to the increased participation of dance groups.
Despite being a relatively recent addition compared to major festivals in the six Tohoku prefectures, Morioka Prefecture proudly promotes itself by declaring the Morioka Sansa Odori as one of the Tohoku Five Great Festivals alongside the traditional Tohoku Three Great Festivals. This event is a vibrant celebration featuring lively traditional dances and music.
