Tsuchiura Zenkoku Fire works festival (Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition) 2024
Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition
The Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition, known as “Tsuchiura Zenkoku Hanabi Kyougi Taikai,” is a fireworks competition held in Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is considered one of Japan’s three major fireworks festivals and one of the top three competitive fireworks festivals. The event is sponsored by the Japan Fireworks Association.
With a tradition dating back to 1925 (Taisho 14), this prestigious fireworks competition brings together fireworks artisans from across the country to showcase their skills. The competition features three categories: Star Mines, where several hundred fireworks are launched continuously; 10-inch shells, judged based on the arrangement and coloration resembling stars when they open; and Creative Fireworks, where participants demonstrate innovative ideas without adhering to a specific form. Each category adds to the vibrant and competitive atmosphere of this renowned event.
