Koenji Awa Odori 2024

東京高円寺阿波おどり（Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori）is an Awa Odori dance festival held annually in late August (the last Saturday and Sunday) in Koenji, Suginami Ward, Tokyo. It is one of the largest Awa Odori festivals in the Tokyo area, second in scale only to the Awa Odori held in Tokushima City.

The festival takes place along the shopping streets and the Koenji South Road, extending from JR Koenji Station to Tokyo Metro Shin-Koenji Station. Over the years, the event has gained increasing popularity, and it has become the largest Awa Odori festival in the Tokyo vicinity. Participants come not only from the local area but also from afar, including group participants from Tokushima, the home of Awa Odori. The festival is held concurrently with the Asakusa Samba Carnival, becoming one of Tokyo’s representative summer festivals. About 10,000 people participate in the dance, making it a well-established tradition and a symbol of late summer in Tokyo.
