Edogawa Fire works fes 2024
The Edogawa Fireworks Festival (Edogawa Hanabi Taikai) and Ichikawa City Citizen’s Summer Fireworks Festival (Ichikawa Shimin Noryo Hanabi Taikai) are annual fireworks festivals held on the banks of the Edogawa River, spanning Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward and Chiba Prefecture’s Ichikawa City. The festivals take place every year on the first Saturday of August.
Combined, these events are collectively referred to as the Edogawa Fireworks Festival (Edogawa Hanabi Taikai).
Overview:
Taking place along the Edogawa Riverbanks, the festival is a collaborative effort between Edogawa Ward on the west bank and Ichikawa City on the east bank. The fireworks are launched to accompany various themes, with different styles of fireworks synchronized to background music. The opening features a rapid-fire display of 1,000 shots in 5 seconds, and the overall display includes an impressive 14,000 fireworks. In 2009, the total attendance on both sides of the river reached 1.39 million people, making it the largest fireworks festival in terms of audience numbers in Japan.
The fireworks are launched from the Edogawa Ward side of the river (near the Shinzaki Park), and the display is orchestrated by the renowned fireworks company Hanabi Kagiya from Higashi Komatsugawa in Edogawa Ward.
Moreover, the Niagara Falls fireworks display is organized by Uchimiyako Unyu Kikou Co., Ltd., located in Chuo, Edogawa Ward.
