The Gion Festival2026
The Gion Festival is the annual festival of Yasaka Shrine (formerly known as Gion Shrine), located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, Japan. Until the Meiji period, it was known as the Gion Goryoe (Goryoe). With a history dating back to the Jogan era (859–877), it is one of Kyoto’s most iconic summer traditions.
