In the theater world, the [Salme Company] is garnering major attention. Founded in 2018, despite their average age of 27, they received six awards at the 2021 Sato Sakichi Theater Awards, including Best Director. In their fifth year, they performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre’s Theater West, attracting approximately 1,400 attendees with their production of “It Don’t Mean a Thing.” The company continues to gain recognition for their work, including being chosen for the “Japan Theater Professionals Nurturing Project” with their 2024 production of “Civilization Kaika Yotsuya Kaidan.”
The company, known for using full live performances and utilizing the entire theater space, has partnered with [Happinet Media Marketing], a company involved in a wide range of theatrical productions, from straight plays to 2.5D and reading plays. Together, they will stage a play based on Osamu Tezuka’s “Phoenix: Phoenix Chapter” at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre’s Theater West in the summer of 2024. This marks a special production commemorating the 70th anniversary of Tezuka’s works and builds on the Salme Company’s long-standing plan to adapt the “Phoenix Chapter” for the stage.
