Ashikaga Fujinohana Monogatari (Story of the Wisteria Flowers in Ashikaga) – Otofuji Matsuri 2024
“The Ashikaga Wisteria Festival” is an annual wisteria festival held at the Ashikaga Flower Park in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture. The festival for the year 2024 is scheduled to take place from April 12th (Wednesday) to May 14th (Sunday).
During this festival, more than 350 wisteria plants, including the renowned 160-year-old 600-tatami mat wisteria, purple wisteria, long wisteria, and double-flowered wisteria, burst into full bloom. Additionally, over 5,000 azalea plants will also be in full bloom.
In 2023, the festival experienced the earliest blooming in recorded history, with the wisteria blooming on April 5th. Due to this early blooming, the festival period was adjusted.
Ashikaga Flower Park is well-known as one of Japan’s top wisteria viewing spots.
