Fujisaki Hachimangu Autumn Grand Festival 2025
The Fujisaki Hachimangu Autumn Grand Festival is the annual festival of Fujisaki Hachimangu Shrine located in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
The festival events span five days, culminating on the third Monday of September (Respect for the Aged Day) with the grand procession (Shinkō Gyōretsu) as the climax. Highlights include the procession of “Zuibyo” (attendants) and “Kazari Uma” (decorated horses) that accompany the portable shrine (mikoshi). Recently, more than 60 groups participate, marching lively through Kumamoto City with spirited chants of “Dōkai, Dōkai” and sounds of trumpets and other instruments.
