Gembikei Sakura When 2024
Gembikei Gorge, located in Iwate Prefecture, is a nationally designated scenic spot and natural monument. Stretching for about 2 km on both sides of the gorge, there are approximately 200 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino and Edo-Higan varieties. Particularly, the aged Edo-Higan trees are said to have been planted by the feudal lord Date Masamune.
Gembikei Gorge is renowned for its dynamic valley and attractions like flying dumplings. Visiting during the cherry blossom season in spring is especially recommended. The contrast between the emerald green water flow and the cherry blossoms creates a beautiful scene, attracting numerous tourists.
