Goryokaku Sakura When 2024
Goryokaku Park in Hakodate City boasts approximately 1,600 cherry blossoms in full bloom. Centered around Somei Yoshino, the light pink cherry blossoms add a vibrant touch to the fortress. Goryokaku is designated as a special historic site by the national government, attracting numerous tourists and locals during the spring season.
The best viewing period at Goryokaku Park is typically from late April to early May each year. In 2023, full bloom occurred on April 20th, which was 12 days earlier than the average and 5 days earlier than the previous year.
After enjoying cherry blossoms at ground level in Goryokaku Park, visitors can also appreciate the view from the observation deck of Goryokaku Tower. This vantage point offers a unique perspective of the cherry blossoms outlining the star-shaped fortress.
