Hadaka Matsuri is a Japanese festival mainly featuring male participants who wear a loincloth or participate nearly naked, sometimes completely nude.
Overview
Hadaka Matsuri is a sacred ritual where participants (shinko) appear as pure and innocent as when they were born, engaging in spiritual negotiations with the gods.
The festival is broadly divided into two ceremonies: one where participants perform purification rites to cast off misfortune and be reborn, and another that prays for a bountiful harvest and a great fishing year.
