“Future Boy Conan” is an animated series directed by Hayao Miyazaki for the first time in 1978, produced by Nippon Animation. Recognized as a masterpiece, it is filled with dynamic depictions and a captivating world, elements that have been inherited by Miyazaki’s subsequent works.
The story incorporates themes such as natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis, wars, energy issues, portraying them as an adventurous epic with themes that resonate with us today. Over the years, it has garnered support from a diverse audience, from children to adults, regardless of age or gender.
Bringing this iconic work to the stage is Inbal Pinto, known for his work on Japanese musicals such as “100 Million Times Lived Cat” and the adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.” Collaborating with him is David Mambo, a versatile creator and son of the world-renowned choreographer Maguy Marin. Both have expressed deep admiration for Miyazaki’s works, and with their unique perspectives, they aim to create a new stage art piece, skillfully manipulating acting, dance, song, music, art, costumes, lighting, and more.
