Hirosaki Sakura Matsuri 2024

With the northward progression of the cherry blossom front, the cherry blossoms in Hirosaki begin to bloom around late April. These blossoms, which burst forth in layers, are born from the pruning techniques used for Aomori’s representative fruit, the apple.

The cherry blossoms in Hirosaki, often touted as the best in Japan, are known for their impressive and voluminous flower clusters that bloom from a single flower bud. This unique feature is influenced by the pruning methods developed for Aomori’s iconic fruit, the apple. The blossoms, in multiple layers, create a spectacular and powerful display.
